About the museum
The Weilheim Nativity Museum is housed in a listed carriage house from 1896 on Petelgasse. The building was fully renovated in 2018 and converted into a museum; a barrier-free entrance with a lift was also created.
Across three floors and about 450 square meters, the museum shows over 130 nativity scenes with more than 1,800 figures from different cultures. On display are nativity scenes from the regional and Oriental traditions, including nearly 400 figures by the Sicilian artist Angela Tripi, as well as figures from Tyrol, Bavaria (for example from Oberammergau), the Erzgebirge, Peru and Africa.
Special pieces include a historical board nativity from 1721 and landscape nativity scenes with Oberammergau figures from 1880.
