About the museum

The Heimatmuseum Spatz in Ehingen am Hesselberg is a private museum run by the Spatz family. It was established in 2001 in the converted Heinlein farmstead and, according to its operators, was built without public subsidies. Hans Spatz collected for years what others had thrown away, and in this way assembled a large stock.

Today the collection comprises around 10,000 exhibits, all from Ehingen and the surrounding villages. They show village life over the last 250 years: agricultural tools, household objects, costumes, uniforms, tools of various craftsmen, militaria and toys. In addition there are areas on school, church life and tavern tradition, as well as a fully preserved farmhouse kitchen, local literature and devotional pictures.

In addition to museum tours, the operators also offer tours to the nearby Hesselberg.
