About the museum

The museum goes back to the collecting passion of Heinrich Zoller, who for many years gathered evidence of village history without public funding. The collection is housed in the preserved tithe barn of the former bailiwick castle (Vogtamtsschloss) of the Margraves of Ansbach, of which otherwise only foundation walls remain. On around 475 square meters, more than 2,000 exhibits are shown; the oldest piece dates from 1380, and most objects are from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Themes include village and church history, brewing, Franconian costumes, the history of the dairy and rural structures. Zoller also researched the development of individual houses, farms and families in the village using archival sources and interviews. For his commitment he was awarded, among other honors, the Verdienstmedaille (Medal of Merit) of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Ehrenbrief (honorary letter) of the Bezirk Mittelfranken (Central Franconia district).
