About the museum
The Steinwiesen local history museum shows how the grandparents of today's visitors lived, worked and celebrated in the Frankenwald. The lovingly assembled objects and memories tell of simple life, hard work and deep piety at the beginning of the 20th century.
The themes range from timber rafting and sawmills to the crafts and farming of the time, and to the construction of Frankenwald houses. Folk customs objects and many relics of Christian popular piety complete the collection. The kitchen, bedroom and best room are furnished, and there are local documents from the two World Wars.
