About the museum
The Heimatstube in Assel is run by the Bürgerverein Assel e. V. Volunteers look after the exhibition, provide information on the origin and function of the objects, and tell their stories.
On the first floor, craft trades are shown, including a complete shoemaker's workshop and a joinery with workbench and tools. The area of the Jagemannstiftung (Jagemann Foundation) displays furnished living spaces, a kitchen, a dairy and laundry room, and a reading room with books. Further themes are the history of the local brickworks and the products of the former Asseler factory Tripmacker, which made floor wax, shoe polish, udder balm and tree wax. Also on display are enamel advertising signs, clocks, ship models, costumes, beehives, and a photo and film collection.
The house also serves as a meeting place: the hall can be rented, and the wedding room is a branch office of the municipal registry office of Drochtersen.
