About the museum
The Heimatstube für dörfliche Alltagskultur in Bliesdorf goes back to the collecting passion of a farm woman from the region, who began in 1970 to keep objects from dissolved households. According to the Oderbruch Museum, the Heimatstube opened in 1995; regional tourism portals, however, give July 1991 as its start.
It is housed in a workers' house a good hundred years old. On display are the living room, bedroom, kitchen, equipment room, washrooms and storerooms, which give an insight into work and everyday life in the village. The period covered runs from the late 19th century and the time before World War I to the years of political change.
To secure the Heimatstube financially, the association "Dörfliche Alltagskultur e.V." was founded. The municipal administration covers the building's running costs. The collection also sees itself as a kind of retirement home for everyday objects that would otherwise have been lost.
