About the museum
The Lange Haus in Altfriedland was first mentioned in 1727. It was an estate workers’ house where eight families lived, and today it is the seat of the Verein Langes Haus Altfriedland e. V. (registered association).
On June 10, 2023, the association opened its local history room there. The exhibition "Zwischen den Seen", designed by the Berlin agency HNeun, is deliberately limited to a few objects; behind each one is a story that is explored further at two media panels with photos, videos and podcasts. In all, twelve stories are told about Altfriedland and the surrounding region, including the murder at the Dammmühle mill, which made the village known as far away as Berlin in 1724.
Since May 2026, the exhibition can also be visited without membership in the association, via a smart-code door system; lights and technology switch on automatically.
