About the museum
The forge in the quiet Litschental valley near Seelbach is first documented in 1280 and has worked with water power from the start. Powerful hammers and an ingenious gear train kept operations running. Weapons were once made here for the knights of nearby Hohengeroldseck Castle and for the counts of Geroldseck.
Since 1596 the site has belonged to the Fehrenbach family, who have preserved this old craft over generations. Today the family makes combat weapons here based on historical models, for collectors, enthusiasts, and staged historical combat demonstrations.
The powerful hammers and their mechanical drives are the highlight; the ensemble is considered a technical monument. Anyone who wishes to visit the forge should contact the family directly.
