About the museum
The Konrad-Struve-Haus on Bismarckstraße is a branch of the municipal Industriemuseum Elmshorn. It is named after the teacher and local historian Konrad Struve, who founded the Elmshorn museum on a voluntary basis in 1953.
Since 2013 the Konrad-Struve-Haus has housed a walk-through open storage display: the pieces stand closely packed in display cases and on shelves to make collecting and preserving visible as a museum's core task. In 2016 it reopened with a permanent exhibition on the first floor.
On show are everyday, typical and curious items from Elmshorn, including a reconstructed living room, finds from the Stone Age and evidence of the town's former crafts. Since 2024, information on the exhibits can be accessed via a web app. The building also houses two local history societies.
