About the museum
The Kreisheimatstube was opened in October 1984 by the district of Günzburg. Initially it included only a Sölde (a small cottage) from Oberwiesenbach, a sideline farm from around 1880, and the former Pfründhäusel (a small benefice house) from Hohenraunau, dating from 1798. Both buildings were moved to Stoffenried on the initiative of the district administrator (Landrat) of the time and so saved from being lost.
In the Sölde, furnished living rooms and chambers as well as the stable and barn with agricultural tools can be seen; in the Pfründhäusel there is a small shoemaker's workshop and a rope-maker's workshop, where the production of sea grass shoes is shown.
In 1991, the rope walk from Langenhaslach came to the garden, as well as the neighboring farm “Beim Neher-Bader”, which shows the state of 1910. It includes a retirement cottage (Austragshäusle) with a broom- and brush-making workshop (as of around 1935) and a small historical house brewery in the former cowshed. Throughout the year there are demonstrations, courses and festivals on old crafts and traditions.
