About the museum
The Gehrke-Remund Art Museum was founded in 2008 and is known as the Frida Kahlo Museum. It shows the entire painted oeuvre of the Mexican artist in the form of hand-painted, licensed replicas in original size and with original materials. According to the museum, it is the only institution to which Mexico has granted permission to reproduce and exhibit all of Frida Kahlo's paintings.
The exhibition "Frida Kahlo: meine Geheimnisse" on the upper floor of a former factory loft replicates the interior of Kahlo's "Blue House." Besides more than 100 painting replicas, numerous photographs, videos, original Mexican dresses, jewelry, textiles and reconstructed furniture are on display, including the painting "The Wounded Table." Visitors receive a free 80-page companion booklet in several languages on loan, as well as an audio guide.
After a multi-year international tour, including in the USA, the exhibition has returned to Baden-Baden, where the museum is located in the Oos district near the railway station.
