About the museum

The Lechfeld Museum tells the story of the early days of the young town of Königsbrunn. It came into being in 1833, when two wells for people and animals were dug on the orders of the government of Swabia and Neuburg; three years later the first settlers built their houses there.

In several themed rooms, the museum shows how the founding settlers lived and worked in the 19th and early 20th centuries: from flax processing to sewing, embroidery and knitting, to clothing, traditional costumes and an original furnished living and sleeping room. There is also a children’s room, a dollhouse with an early Käthe Kruse doll, postcards and postmarks, ornate clockworks, school benches and craftsmen’s rooms.

The house also makes visible technical progress and the disappearance of traditional ways of life and work. In the expellee room, over 4,500 exhibits recall displaced persons and refugees from the Sudetenland, Egerland and Transylvania. The Cultural Office of the City of Königsbrunn maintains the collection.
