Temporarily closed. The former museum in the Schlossmühle was cleared in 2018/19. A new local history museum is currently being planned and set up in the Ludwig Park; the permanent exhibition is not yet open. The rooms are opened for events and guest exhibitions; there are no regular opening hours.

About the museum

The Heimatmuseum Mering opened on January 4, 1997 in the former civic center Schlossmühle. The municipality was the sponsor; organizational responsibility lay with the Heimatverein Mering (local heritage association), founded in 1993. The collection was built up through volunteer work; between 2001 and 2003 the house was gradually expanded and redesigned. Topics of the permanent exhibition included prehistory and early history, local history, clay and ceramics production, 19th-century clockmaking, art metal forging, traditional crafts, agriculture and the Luidl family of sculptors.

After the Schlossmühle was sold, the museum area had to be cleared within a few weeks at the turn of the year 2018/19, and the holdings were placed in storage. Since 2022 the association has had use of the former showroom of the Ludwig Leuchten company in today's Ludwig Park (Frühlingstraße 15).

There, a new museum is being created that is deliberately smaller, with fewer permanent exhibits and digital support. Topics that are especially important for Mering, such as the Neolithic finds from the Mering/Merching area, the Luidl sculptor family and Lipp ceramics, are to continue to be presented in detail. A projection room for 3D films and a storage room are already set up; the rooms are used for events and guest exhibitions.
