About the museum
The mooseum was created as an information house of the ARGE Donaumoos for the bog, floodplain and river landscapes of the Swabian Danube valley, and the ARGE ran it from 2003 to 2006. Since then it has developed into a recognized Bavarian environmental station and a learning site for natural and cultural landscapes.
The operator is the Förderverein mooseum – Forum Schwäbisches Donautal e. V. (friends' association). Since January 1, 2010, the house has held the quality seal "Umweltbildung.Bayern" and today sees itself as a forum for the entire Swabian Danube valley.
The permanent exhibition explains how floodplain forests and bogs formed, developed and are used, and presents current nature conservation projects in the region. There is also the "Grünes Klassenzimmer" (green classroom), the historic learning site "D'r Saustall" for local-history craft activities, and an outdoor area with a barefoot path, sensory garden, Danube playground and wetland biotope.
