About the museum

The exhibition in Brand, a district of Haundorf, goes back to Werner Honold, who, alongside his auto repair shop, spent decades collecting and restoring vehicles from the economic miracle era himself. Since 1995 the family business Auto Honold has shown the collection publicly; his wife Waltraud designed the exhibition rooms. After Werner Honold's death in 2019, Thomas Honold continues to run the museum.

On more than 350 square meters stand around 35 cars, 40 motorcycles, ten mopeds, a number of bicycles, and several caravans, mostly from the 1950s and 1960s. Many of the microcar types that were common at the time are represented, such as the Isetta, Spatz, and various Fuldamobil models, plus curiosities such as a rickshaw from Taiwan and a penny-farthing. According to the operators, the vehicles are roadworthy.

The vehicle display is complemented by furnished rooms in the style of the postwar decades: a kitchen, a living room, an old sewing machine, and a school desk with school supplies convey everyday life in those years, when many families could afford their own vehicle for the first time.
