About the museum
The Museum Frauenkultur Regional-International is run by the Nuremberg association Frauen in der Einen Welt, which was founded in 1989 as a center for intercultural research on women's everyday life and international exchange. The association develops exhibitions, books, and catalogs on women's cultures in intercultural comparison and belongs to the International Association of Women's Museums (IAWM).
According to press reports, the museum was established in Fürth in 2003 as a mobile museum and was later housed in the Marstall (former stable building) of Schloss Burgfarrnbach. Since June 2025 it has had new, centrally located rooms on the Hirschenstraße in the Fürth city center, which make year-round operation and cooperation with educational institutions and other museums easier.
The exhibitions emerge from the association's work; one well-known example is "Kopftuchkulturen", which was shown at around 50 venues. Some exhibitions can be lent to other institutions. The offerings also include talks in the museum and museum education projects.
