About the museum
Since 1979 the Museum für Zeit (museum of time) has shown the development of timekeeping through more than 50 large clocks. It houses one of the most important tower clock collections in Europe, which goes back to the collection of Knut Deutschle.
The centerpiece is the clock tower with the Astronomical Clock of Rockenhausen, which displays the planets, moon phases, sunrises and sunsets, and the movement of over 400 stars. In addition there are clockworks more than three meters tall from five centuries, precision and garden sundials, travel sundials and hourglasses.
On the gable side hangs a carillon with 37 bells, which chimes several times a day and in summer is played in its own concert series.
