About the museum
Manfred Pahl was born in 1900 in Ebingen and died in 1994. He was among the late representatives of the Swabian artists who came out of the Hölzel school at the Stuttgart Academy of Art.
During his lifetime he had his own museum built in Gailsbach, a district of Mainhardt; it opened in 1975. In 1989 he handed over the house together with his work to the municipality of Mainhardt as a foundation.
The collection comprises around 300 oil paintings and about 3,000 drawings, watercolors, pastels and prints. The house also serves as a cultural meeting place for the municipality, and a circle of friends supports its operation.
