About the museum
The museum is run by the Verein für Heimatgeschichte des Kirchspiels Lunden (local history association of the Lunden parish) and shows everyday life and history of the region on Wilhelmstraße. On display are a general store as it looked around 1960, a doctor's office, a printing shop, an apartment from around 1900, a classroom from 1935 and a sewing room.
Other rooms focus on life in Dithmarschen in the 16th century around Peter Swyn, on 20th-century technology with gramophones, radios and a miniature model of Lunden's railway station, and on emigrants to America; an archive documents emigration from all of Dithmarschen. The NaTourCentrum explains, with a multimedia show, hands-on terminals and a nature experience room, how the sea shaped the lowland area of the Eider-Treene-Sorge region.
