About the museum
The village museum "Im Alten Pfarrhaus" has been housed in the former Protestant parsonage of Schwieberdingen since March 1991, opposite St. George's Church. It is cared for by the Heimat- und Kulturkreis Schwieberdinger Gruppe (local heritage and culture circle).
Over three floors, the permanent exhibition shows rural and urban everyday culture from 1870 to 1920: furniture, textiles and needlework, kitchen utensils, glass and porcelain, and toys and school items. In the attic, a village model shows how small the village was at the beginning of the 19th century. The Handwerkskammer (craft room) displays carpenters, tailors and shoemakers, and a working forge stands in the museum courtyard.
The cellar, carved out of the rock, recalls Schwieberdingen's past as a wine village and the long-standing Lamm brewery Essig. A separate Stanischitscher Heimatstube (local heritage room) commemorates the lost Danube Swabian homeland.
