About the museum
The Red Cross Museum Eastern Bavaria has existed for more than 15 years and has moved several times in that period. Today its rooms are located in the Health and Care Center (GBZ) of the BRK district association Schwandorf in Nabburg. Across 230 square meters in 12 rooms, it displays objects from Red Cross history.
Under the direction of Gerhard Hofbauer, the friends' association works to acquire new exhibits and preserve existing collections; many items have been saved from disposal and oblivion this way. The permanent exhibition covers, among other things, mountain rescue, the youth Red Cross, air-raid and disaster protection, the tracing service and water rescue.
In addition to museum operations, traveling exhibitions are among its activities, and costumes can be borrowed for historical parades. Children and young people are meant to experience the historical background in an engaging way, and a small puzzle is available for school classes.
