About the museum
Oedheim was shaped for centuries by farming and crafts, including several village forges. The Schmiedemuseum preserves tools and objects from the town's last village forge and so makes a piece of local history tangible.
It is housed in the basement of the former “Neues Schulhaus”. After renovation in 2001, the building was no longer used as a school but was converted into a House of Associations. Various agricultural implements are also displayed in the corridors and stairwell.
