About the museum
The small museum in the Kirch Baggendorf district of the municipality of Gransebieth in the Trebel valley shows the single-room village school as it existed in Vorpommern (Western Pomerania) from the mid-19th century until around 1930. The long-serving teacher Karl Sonnenfeld gives visitors a lesson on wooden benches, dressed in old-fashioned teacher's clothing, and recites Low German texts by Rudolf Tarnow.
The lesson is followed by a short tour of the memorial site for Alexander von Homeyer, the ornithologist, lepidopterist and Africa explorer. The memorial is part of the school museum and is therefore listed under the same entry.
