About the museum
The Spielzeugmuseum Beilngries opened in 1999, founded by the Kulturhistorischer Verein Beilngries-Kinding (cultural history association). The association still runs the house today and continues to expand the collection. The museum is housed in the former Franciscan monastery on Hauptstraße.
The collection ranges from dolls and dollhouses to Kasperl puppet theaters, carousels and steam engines, as well as pedal cars and self-made toys by small tinkerers. Much of it is made of tin and plastic, including many collector's pieces. Special displays are devoted to toys by the manufacturer Arnold, and there is a display of tin figures (Zinnfigurenschau).
A particular highlight is the largest N-gauge model railway in the region, on which several trains run over more than 75 meters of track through many stations. The association also runs the Technikmuseum Kratzmühle in Kinding.
