About the museum
The roots of the town museum lie in the local heritage collection that the local historian and town archivist Wolfgang Christoph (1932–2022) started in 1997. After roughly four years of conversion and a new concept, the museum reopened in its new form on June 15, 2023.
The permanent exhibition has two parts. The local history section runs from Roman finds through the farming village to the town's elevation in 2000. The art department uses the Graf collection to show how artists have seen and see the town, and it gives farming tools a new artistic reading.
The museum places its main emphasis on education: it offers expert lectures, art tours, painting and drawing courses, holiday activities, and educational programs for families and schools.
