About the museum
The clock museum belongs to the Hubben specialist shop in Vluyn, which was founded in 1896 as a clockmaker's shop in the neighboring town of Rheurdt and is today run by the Rebbelmund family in the fourth generation. Under one roof, the business combines clocks, jewelry and optometry.
Family members assembled the collection over many years; as a museum it has existed since 1991. It is looked after by master clockmaker Margarete Rebbelmund. On display are about 200 standing, kitchen, living-room and pocket clocks, as well as an almost hundred-year-old clockmaker's workshop with workbenches and tools.
Special features include a large tower clock from Seville from 1868, a clock with iron plates from 1715, and a curious wall clock whose figure stuffs dumplings into its mouth at every half and full hour. Visits take place by telephone appointment.
