About the museum
The collection grew over more than five decades. Taxidermist Hermann Siglbauer assembled the specimens with great dedication and prepared many of them himself. Together with the Tourist Information office in Waging am See, he turned them into a publicly accessible museum.
The collection is displayed in the Tourist Information building on Lake Waging. It is organized into eight thematic groups by habitat and gives an overview of native and European bird species, from golden eagle to wren. It also includes mammals such as lynx, deer, wolf and bear, and a musk ox from Greenland.
The museum is a popular stop for school classes and visitors from the region. A dedicated friends’ association was founded to maintain and promote it.
