About the museum
The Wine and Local History Museum is located in the center of Mehring, in a Baroque building from the 16th century, which also houses the tourist office and the municipal office.
The exhibition offers a cross-section of the town's history, from its first documentary mention in 752 to the present. A complete replica of the Roman villa rustica of Mehring, along with excavation finds, brings Roman times on the Mosel to life.
A second focus is the roughly 2,000-year-old wine-growing tradition along the Römische Weinstraße (Roman Wine Road). On display are 19th-century implements, including a cart with a grape tub, a grape mill, a spindle press and cellar-work tools.
