About the museum
The Archaeological Museum of Astypalaia is housed in a ground-floor hall, which the Ecclesiastical Charitable Fund of Astypalaia made available to the Ministry of Culture in 1994. The exhibition was organised in 1995–1996, and in the following years it was improved and enriched, among other things with an audiovisual programme (“Echorama”). The museum opened in September 1998.
The exhibition presents finds covering a wide chronological range, from the prehistoric to the medieval period.
