About the museum
The Skoufas Folklore Museum is housed in a two-storey neoclassical building at the end of the historic bridge of Arta, over the river Arachthos. The building was constructed in 1864 by an Austrian architect and originally served as a guard post on the bridge.
After the convention of 1881, when the Greek-Turkish border ran through the middle of the bridge, the building became a Turkish border and customs post. Today it houses the folklore museum of the “Skoufas” association of Arta.
