About the museum
The Museum of Arts and Sciences of Epirus is a private museum created by the collector Charalampos Gouvas. It is located at the 16th kilometre of the Preveza–Ioannina national road, at the site of Flampoura, east of the road, at the height of Sampsounta. It opened to the public on 2 September 2013, and the inauguration was attended by the mayor of Preveza.
In a space of about 100 square metres thousands of objects relating to art, the environment, history and culture are displayed. Among them are authentic astronaut suits, traditional costumes of about two centuries, signed paintings, ship miniatures, authentic weapons, meteorite fragments, solidified lava, ostrich eggs, cobras and insects from all over the world.
Artistic and cultural events are planned in the museum’s courtyard, and the founder plans to extend the space so that objects not yet on display can be shown.
