About the museum
The museum is housed in the summer house of the well-known actress Marika Kotopouli, whose construction began in 1918 on what was then Vasileos Georgiou Street, today Alekou Panagouli Street. During the German occupation the house was requisitioned, and later it housed the municipal police station. It then passed into the ownership of the Municipality of Zografou.
The museum was inaugurated on 9 May 1990 and is run by the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Zografou. It permanently houses the art collection of Konstantinos Ioannidis, hosts temporary exhibitions and cultural events, and is one of the municipality’s exhibition venues. The Museum of Greek Shadow Theatre of the Municipality of Zografou is also housed in the building.
