About the museum
The Mouseio Tinion Kallitechnon was founded in 1930 and was initially housed in the courtyard of the church of Evangelistria, before being moved to the village of Pyrgos on Tinos, which is known for its marble-working tradition. Most of the works were bought by the Panhellenic Holy Foundation of Evangelistria, and the rest were donated by the artists themselves. It is located at the entrance to the village, next to the Mouseio Giannouli Chalepa.
Characteristic works by artists from Pyrgos and Ysternia are on display, such as those of Giannoulis Chalepas, Georgios Vitalis, Dimitrios Filippotis, Ioannis Voulgaris, Ioannis Lampadites and Lazaros Sochos. Together with the marble sculptures the original plaster models are also presented, which allow visitors to follow the process of marble sculpture.
