About the museum
Hidden in a peaceful oak forest, the Late Minoan cemetery of Armenoi (13th–12th century BC) was discovered in 1969 thanks to two young pupils who found two vessels in the area.
Since then more than 220 family chamber tombs, cut into the rock, have come to light, as well as a unique built domed tomb. Most of them were unlooted and yielded valuable grave goods and impressively decorated larnakes, as well as important information about the people buried there.
