About the museum
The Iakovos Kambanellis Theatre Museum opened in the summer of 2016 in the Grotta district of Chora on Naxos, next to the municipal car park. It is dedicated to the Naxian writer who renewed post-war theatrical dramaturgy and is run by a legal entity of the Municipality of Naxos and Lesser Cyclades.
Visitors see the writer’s office, personal objects, documents, portraits, sketches, medals and plaques, as well as archive material donated by his daughter, Katerina Kambanellis. They can also study all his published works and studies on his oeuvre, and see digitised interviews of his and films for which he wrote the screenplay or which he directed.
The museum hosts theatre workshops, film screenings, concerts and book presentations.
