About the museum
The Çarşı Hammam, also known as the Market Bath, lies in the centre of the once Ottoman quarter of Aziziye and is remarkably well preserved. It forms part of the adjacent Yeni Mosque complex, which dates to the first quarter of the 19th century.
Like the Byzantine and Ottoman baths, it follows a linear layout, in which the bather passed gradually from the cold to the hot element.
