About the museum
Most of the carriages on show in the Kocsimúzeum (Carriage Museum), opened in 1971, were made in the late 1800s in the workshop of the Kölber brothers. The exhibition presents the history of world-famous Hungarian carriage-making and every stage of making a carriage, from the invention of the wheel through upholstery to the sumptuous carriages of the aristocracy, as well as the related crafts: the wheelwright, the cartwright, the blacksmith, the locksmith, the harness-maker, the saddler, the upholsterer and the varnisher.
