About the museum
The house on Kossuth Lajos út was built in 1910 on a ribbon plot, in a comb-type arrangement. Behind the house, the farm buildings (pigsty, stable, granary) stand in a row; the building has remained almost in its original form, and its porch is supported by carved wooden columns.
The folk-art heritage house, consisting of a hall-kitchen (pitvarkonyha) and an entrance hall, was furnished in 1965, and in 1997 it received listed-monument protection. It is one of the earliest heritage houses of this kind in the region and in the country. Alongside the tools of traditional village life, the domed stove gives the house its atmosphere.
The heritage house is run by the Hevesi Háziipari Szövetkezet (Heves Cottage Industry Cooperative) and can be visited all year round.
