Magyar Mezőgazdasági Múzeum Tanyamúzeuma

About the museum

The first tanya of the Lajosmizse Tanyamúzeum (Tanya Museum), which consists of two farmsteads, was arranged in a traditional way with objects of farmstead life and opened to the general public on 30 June 1972; it was Hungary's first tanya museum. Its residential building was probably built in the 1870s. The exhibition “Enteriőr tanya” (“Interior of a Farmstead”) reflects the farmstead living culture of the middle peasants of Lajosmizse around the turn of the century. The exhibition on farmstead history, which presents the farmstead economy of the Danube–Tisza Interfluve, shows the buildings of a farmstead restored to their original state: the two-room residential house, the stable, the tool shed, the pigsties, the maize crib, the carriage shed, the cellar and the summer kitchen.
