About the museum
The painter Molnár-C. Pál (1894–1981) lived and worked for fifty years in the villa on Ménesi út, on the slope of Gellérthegy. After his death, in 1984, his younger daughter, Dr. Csillag Pálné Éva, set up a family-run private museum, where the works can be seen where they were created. The Molnár-C. Pál Műterem-Múzeum (Molnár-C. Pál Studio Museum) is the oldest family-run private museum in the country and has been a collection of museum interest since 2011. The museum is now run by the painter’s grandson, Csillag Péter, and his wife, Csillag Éva.
The oeuvre is unusually varied in subject, style and technique: landscapes and horses, Madonna and saint depictions, surreal dreams and visions, feminine beauty and café scenes all appear in it. The artist’s personal objects and family memory bring the creator closer to visitors. The material of the permanent MCP exhibition changes from time to time, by theme.
In the flat museum set up in the former home of Molnár-C. Pál’s elder daughter, in the Tavasz Terem (Spring Room), three or four times a year since 2008, the family-run collections of other great masters have been presented. The museum works together with art history students of the Pázmány Péter Catholic University and with the MCP Műhely (MCP Workshop).
