About the museum
The permanent exhibition of Sajdik Ferenc, graphic artist and caricaturist, Kossuth and Munkácsy Prize laureate, awaits visitors in the town's 300-year-old, venerable building, the Pannónia Ház. The artist was the legendary illustrator of the weekly Ludas Matyi; he brought to life the popular fairy-tale figures of Csukás István, including Pom Pom and Gombóc Artúr.
The exhibition consists of Sajdik's pastel portraits, mixed-technique caricatures, paintings of Vác and fairy-tale figures. In January 2020 the town bought Sajdik Ferenc's oeuvre as a collection from a private collector in Vác.
The exhibition presents nearly 140 works in four rooms, in a thematic arrangement. At the entrance, in the L-shaped room, Sajdik's characteristic portraits with attributes can be seen, while the artist's animal caricatures line up in the large hall on the ground floor.
