About the museum
The church art collection of the Dunamelléki Református Egyházkerület was founded in 1967 and has operated as a museum in Kecskemét since 1983. Its parent institution is the Ráday Gyűjtemény in Budapest, to which the Bibliamúzeum on Ráday utca in Pest also belongs. The collecting area covers the whole church district: material objects, historical sources, paintings, crafts and folk art presenting the life and history of the congregations.
The museum is housed in the Ókollégium building, the former school building of the Reformed community of Kecskemét, where, as in the parent schools of Debrecen, Sárospatak and Pápa, multi-level education took place. The literature usually names Hofrichter József as the designer of the building; for its construction the Reformed community of Kecskemét also sought advice from Hild József. The exhibition presents the characteristic furnishings of Reformed churches and the traditions of worship.
