About the museum
The museum's origins go back to the early 18th century, when teaching aids and antiquities gathered at the school. The collection found a home in the 1930s on the ground floor of the college's two-storey 18th-century Berna-sor (Berna Row). The material of the Szépészeti és Műrégészeti Múzeum (Museum of Aesthetics and Prehistory), the Régiségtár (antiquities collection), the physics cabinet founded in 1709 by Simándi István (Museum Physicum), the coin collection and, after nationalisation, the ethnographic objects of the Faluszeminárium (Village Seminary) were brought here. Today the museum also holds archaeological, historical, ethnographic, school-history, church-art and fine-art material.
