About the museum

The Antiquarium comunale di Alberona is located in the historic centre of the village, in an exhibition space that has been restored and opened to the public for the benefit of the community. It holds archaeological finds from the municipal territory, mainly from the pre-Roman and Roman periods, and tells the ancient history of this part of the Monti Dauni.

The collection includes bucchero vessels, an arula, Daunian pottery with geometric decoration, a black-glazed bell krater, a bronze bracelet and a satyr’s head, as well as inscriptions carved in stone and two medieval ceramics, one of them with Kufic script.

Alongside the archaeological material, numerous objects of ancient trades are on display, together with evidence from the First and Second World Wars and the Fascist era.
