About the museum
The archaeological collection of Borgo a Mozzano was founded in 1975, after a Ligurian tomb was discovered at Pian della Rocca in 1974. After the Palazzo Comunale was renovated in 1988, a room in the building was given to the museum, which is located on Via Umberto I.
The display cases show finds from the municipal territory and nearby areas: ornaments, stone tools, coins and pottery from the prehistoric, Etruscan, Roman and Ligurian periods. In 1995 a natural history collection from the local primary school was added, with minerals and reassembled skeletons of wild and domestic animals of the local fauna. The museum serves mainly an educational and conservation function.
