About the museum

The Casa di Sant’Ubaldo is a 14th-century palace in the central Via Baldassini in Gubbio. According to tradition it was the home of Ubaldo, the city’s patron saint. It belongs to the University of Perugia and has been lent to the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Perugia, which runs it for public visits.

Inside, some traces of the original wall decorations survive, while the external façade was set back after the construction of the municipal buildings opposite it.

The main hall houses the section “Iconografia del Patrono”, with more than thirty reproductions of paintings from the 16th to the 19th century, taken from private and public collections and from churches in Gubbio and the surrounding area. They recall the work of artists such as Sinibaldo Ibi, Benedetto and Virgilio Nucci, Giovanni Maria Baldassini, Federico Brunori and Francesco Allegrini. The house also keeps a collection of paintings and majolica of considerable historical and artistic value.
