About the museum
The Casetta is the small farmhouse where Giovanni Bosco lived with his mother Margherita, his brothers and his grandmother after losing his father at the age of two. It was a small cottage bought by his father and made into a home by his mother, in the hamlet of Morialdo, on the hill of Becchi.
The building consists of a cowshed, a small room with a kitchen and, on the upper floor, the bedroom of his mother and grandmother and the little room of the dream. The latter is linked to the dream that the young Giovannino had between the ages of nine and ten, which shaped his whole life. Here he received his first human and Christian values from his mother.
The little house is attached to a modern structure that holds old photographs of the hill and recalls the educational values of Mamma Margherita. The small building shows pilgrims the humility of Don Bosco's family and the rural life of the past. It is part of the route of the childhood places of the Colle Don Bosco, which also includes the meadow and the Pilone del Sogno (Dream Pillar), the monument to Giovannino the juggler (giocoliere) and the one to Mamma Margherita.
