About the museum

The castle stands on Monte Vignola, in Trentino, and for more than ten centuries has dominated the Adige valley. It almost always belonged to the Castelbarco family, who turned it into a small feudal court, with crenellated walls and towers.

The best-known frescoes are in the Camera dell'Amore, dating from the mid-fourteenth century (around 1335–1345), and in the Casa delle Guardie, with scenes of battles and sieges.

In 1977 Countess Emanuela Castelbarco Pindemonte Rezzonico donated the property to the FAI – Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano, and since 1978 the castle has been open to the public. Play routes for families are offered, sometimes enlivened by animations and shows.
