About the museum

The Visitor Centre is at the Salina di Cervia, in the station of the same name in the Parco del Delta del Po emiliano-romagnolo, at via Bova. It is the starting point for guided visits to the saltworks, an area of about 827 hectares with more than fifty basins, considered the smallest and northernmost saltworks in Italy.

Inside, a route explores the historical and economic aspects of salt production and the natural features of the saltworks environment. The centre has an exhibition room, a large teaching room equipped for lessons, workshops and lectures, a refreshment point, the “Bar Salino”, and a themed shop with local products and souvenirs. A room for birdwatching, with a large window overlooking the basins, is being completed.

From the centre, itineraries and guided visits set off along the nature trail, the production route from Cervia Nuova to Cervia Vecchia, the “Salina sotto le stelle” (saltworks under the stars), tastings in the saltworks, “La via del Sale” (the salt route), educational activities and excursions by electric boat powered by solar panels. Binoculars, mountain bikes and electric bicycles can also be rented.
