Casa Moretti – Casa museo Marino Moretti

House museum of the poet Marino Moretti in Cesenatico, on the canal port, with furnishings, books and original papers; visited only with a guide in small groups.

Opening hoursAdmission €5

About the museum

Casa Moretti is the home of the poet Marino Moretti, a leading figure of the Crepuscolare movement, born in Cesenatico in 1885, who spent most of his long life there. It overlooks the canal port, among the brightly coloured houses and the moored boats. At the poet's own wish the house was bequeathed to the city of Cesenatico and, kept in its original structure, has become a museum.

The rooms preserve Moretti's furnishings, objects, books, photographs and autograph papers, which form a “living archive” of his life and work. Over the years the poet always returned to “his Cesenatico”, bringing a memento, a keepsake or a photograph to entrust to the memory of the house. The visit is conceived as an immersive experience in his poetry, with constant references to his verse and prose.

As well as the museum, the house holds a library and a historical archive of the poet, available for study and research, and a centre for studies on the 20th century. The Municipality of Cesenatico organises poetry and literature events, exhibitions and a biennial prize here. Because it is a real home, with small rooms, it is visited only with a guide.
